I volunteer to teach Confirmation class at Blessed Sacrament church. It's very sad that many of our Catholic teens just don’t even know the basic catechesis or Faith.
The parents don't teach them catechesis at home. It is not priority to parents to teach their children about Faith nowaday. I only have about 1 hour a week and total is about 24 hours a year to teach them Catholic Faith. That is about 1 day a year that the Church can teach them. I just don't want to see Catholic teens to become atheist, or not going to church, or joining Protestant when they are in College.
I try to come up with a good lesson plan with PowerPoint and video clips to explain to them there is GOD and hopefully, their faith will grow and have closer relationship with God. I have learned Apologetics so I can explain them what difference between Catholic and Protestant and the misunderstanding about Catholic from Protestant point of view. I hope that Protestant Church won't able to obtain them.
