HÀNH TRÌNH TÌM TỰ DO

Có 67 dân biểu Hoa Kỳ tán thành và công nhận ngày Tỵ Nạn Việt Nam là ngày 2 tháng 5 hàng năm, qua nghị quyết 342, ký ngày 28/4/2009. Đây là ngày đánh dấu vị thế quan trọng của người Việt Nam tị nạn trên đất nước Hoa Kỳ.

Chúng tôi sẽ tham dự đại hội Tỵ Nạn đặc biệt vô tiền khoáng hậu này để đánh dấu kết quả cuộc vận động và tranh đấu liên lỷ của các hội đoàn Việt Nam, không phân biệt tôn giáo. Đây là một niềm hãnh diện cho người Việt Nam trên hoàn vũ.

"Journey to Freedom" started since 1954, when the Communist was given  North Vietnam via the Geneva agreement, and one million North Vietnamese left the North moving South.

It continued in exodus in 1975, when the Communist was given South Vietnam, via the Paris agreement and other behind the scenes agreement between the world powers. Another millions of Vietnamese risked their own lives crossing challenging oceans to reach freedom.

The Vietnamese Boat People Retrospective is the snapshot Symposium  hosted  by the Asian Division Friends Society of the Library of Congress, in collaboration with many Vietnamese American organizations nationwide and worldwide, to preserve a very special part of this Journey to Freedom, an unequivocal collective voice of the Vietnamese refugees to proclaim the ultimate goal: FREEDOM OR DEATH.

"Journey to Freedom: The Vietnamese Refugees' Retrospective" Project includes the Symposium at the Library of Congress on May 2nd, the Community Conference at GMU "Journey to Freedom of Vietnamese Americans: Looking Back, Moving Forward" on May 4th, and the Candlelight Vigil at the Capitol Reflection Pool on May 4th, with the legacy already imprinted at the House of Representatives of the United States by the House Resolution 342:

"May 2nd, Vietnamese Refugees Day" introduced by Congressman Cao, sponsored by 67 other Congressmen/ Congresswomen, and passed on April 28th, 2009.

Congressman Cao will be addressing the Keynote Speech at the Candlelight Vigil on May 4th, between the hour of seven o'clock and eight o'clock in the evening, in front of the Capitol Building, at the Capitol Reflection Pool, off 3rd St SW, Washington D.C.

The presences of ALL Vietnamese Refugees are requested, It is time for us to affirm our ultimate goal, and reclaim our rights to make our own decisions of matters directly related to our lives and deaths.
